If today’s youth are to become tomorrow’s civic leaders, they need our help.
Civic education is being reduced in classrooms. Participation in numerous forms of politics and civil society is down sharply. There is a growing number of young people who do not know how their federal, state and local governments work, how to participate in shaping our collective future – or why it’s important to do so.
Minnesota Civic Youth is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that is developing the next generation of informed, engaged citizens. Your contribution will support programs that:
- Provide authentic civic experiences and activities that allow kids and young adults to practice the skills needed for an effective democracy
- Help young people acquire the knowledge, skills, confidence and desire to be informed, active citizens
- Address the growing “civic achievement gap” that is disproportionately correlated with race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
